Ryerson Conservation Area + Buffalo Creek Brewing

The Adventure: This 3-mile hike at Ryerson Conservation Area on Chicago’s northwest side follows dirt path and boardwalk bridges alongside the Des Plaines River. Thick woods surround you on this quiet and pristine trail – a true hidden gem 45 minutes outside of downtown Chicago. Post-hike we’ll grab beer and pizza in the woodsy Biergärten garden at Buffalo Creek Brewing, a Bavarian-inspired taproom in Long Grove. The brewery has cozy fire pits too!

Hike Difficulty: Easy – Perfect for beginners and families. This hike is a meandering walk through the woods on well-maintained paths, offering a relaxing introduction to hiking or a casual day out for seasoned hikers.

Hike Distance: 3 miles | Drive Time: 1 hour (one way)

Pickup / Dropoff: All trips leave from Bitter Pops in Lakeview (map here). Limited metered street parking is available.

What’s Included: Transportation, guided hike, and post-hike food at the taproom. We take care of all the planning and logistics to ensure you have a memorable and exciting adventure.

Participation Waiver: All attendees must sign the Trail to Taproom participation waiver before the event starts.

Note: Trail to Taproom does NOT provide alcohol to participants. All hikers must buy their own beverages.
